Get to The Stronghold
In the midst of life’s battles, what should you do? Get to the stronghold! What is a stronghold? By definition it’s a place of survival or refuge, a defensible place or fortress.
At the Lava Beds National Monument in California lies Captain Jacks’ Stronghold. This particular stronghold has an artery of trenches and rock outcrops created by flowing lava, along with small caves scattered around it. This created nearly an impenetrable fortress. This allowed the Indians to move from one firing position to the next without being seen, yet keeping the approaching enemy in full view.
The bible tells us ‘the Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold’ [Psalm 18:2] NIV
The stronghold of the Lord is just beyond reason, just beyond your human capabilities. If you can do something for yourself, it’s not ‘Beyond Reason.’ Anything you can do under your own power, you don’t need God to work on your behalf. Example, you don’t ask God to turn on your light, or run you a bath, that is within your ability. When your human ability has been exhausted God has prepared a stronghold for you.
A young lady in our church got to the stronghold this week. She and her friend were out Wednesday evening when her car had an abnormal malfunction, that made them pull over for a quick second. In that moment she witnessed an 18-wheeler speeding and blatantly run a red light. In her words “If it wasn’t for us pulling over before hand, we would have been directly in front of it.” Then as quickly as the car malfunctioned, it was running fine.
How did she access this stronghold? God promised to rescue us from every trap. According to Psalm 91 1-3 (NLT) Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
Are you ready to access this stronghold? Then it’s time for you to make Christ your refuge and live in the shelter of Him. He will protect you. Through the Spirit of the Lord you have a place of survival and refuge, a defensible place, a fortress.
It’s time for you to step out Beyond Reason and Get to the Stronghold, because He rescues you from every trap!
